We love living in Maple Valley! This gem of a town is located east of Kent and Covington, and north of Enumclaw in east King County. Maple Valley boasts several lovely recreational lakes and golf courses and an award-winning school district. Around 35 minutes east of Seattle and Tacoma off of State Route 18, this growing town is an extraordinary location to enjoy all that the Puget Sound region has to offer.

Maple Valley is one of the fastest growing real estate market areas in Washington State. From 2000 – 2010 the City grew nearly 63% (the 17th fastest growing city in the State during that time period). The population in 2016 was 24,790, with a estimated trade area population of 65,000-94,000. With additional new construction planned in Maple Valley and surrounding areas such as Black Diamond, Maple Valley will continue to grow as a highly-desired community of east King County.

The average temperature range is from winter lows of 32 degrees to 43 degrees high, and lows of 51 degrees to 75 degrees high during the summer.

Education

Maple Valley is served by the award winning Tahoma School District. It offers excellent bus transportation and is rated in the top 5% nationwide.

The District has one high school (grades 9-12), two middle schools (grades 6-8), and six elementary schools (grades K-5).

Private schools and home schooling are also popular alternatives to public education. Local schools providing such options are Rainier Christian School, Renton Christian School, and the Russell Ridge Center.

Green River Community College, Renton Technical College, and the University of Washington are all within driving distance of Maple Valley.

Events, Parks and Recreation

The City of Maple Valley offers three developed parks, three lakes, two golf courses, and several miles of trails, including the Green to Cedar River Trail that connects to the Cedar River Trail.

At 108 acres, Lake Wilderness Park is a large regional park with lots of prime shoreline, preserved forestland, and great walking trails. The 40-acre Lake Wilderness Arboretum is located adjacent to the park along with a scenic disc golf course.

Opened in 2019, Summit Park is located adjacent to the newly constructed Tahoma High School and offers the community an awesome playground, sports fields, skate park, dog park and a picnic area.

The Parks and Recreation Department provides several recreational activities throughout the year including: adult softball, volleyball and basketball leagues, tennis lessons, day camps and more!

There are a number of great community events each year, including: Annual Fishing Derby at Lake Wilderness, Music in the Park, Maple Valley Days, Fourth of July fireworks and the Holiday Tree Lighting.
